The Light of the Knowledge of the Glory of God

Paul, talking to the Corinthian church about the glory of God that was evidenced in the ministry of Moses (“written and engraved on stones”) and, how much more, the ministry of the Spirit… some exerpts:

But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away, how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious?
…(*Paul continues by describing how Moses used a veil to conceal the glory and explaining that there is a figurative veil on the hearts of any who read Moses apart from Christ*)… He then continues:
Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, 4 whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.

For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

God who commanded light to shine out of darkness,

Today we ask, would You shine in our hearts.  Would You give to us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God.  We believe You are the same, yesterday, today and forever.  We believe that you want to give good gifts to Your children.  We believe and we yearn to know You.  Please reveal Yourself to us today.

Today I am reading: II Corinthians 3-6

One Response to “The Light of the Knowledge of the Glory of God”

  1. Romans 12:2 (New International Version) 2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Lord help me to know Your heart, help me to renew my mind with Your word, Your thoughts that are so much higher then my own. Help me to test and approve and know what Your perfect will is.
