Finding help

The writer of Psalm 121 (generally believed to be Hezekiah) cries out,

“I will lift up my eyes to the hills—
From whence comes my help?
My help comes from the LORD,
Who made heaven and earth. “

Then Jesus, in Mark 10 says,

“Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.”

and

“How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God!”

Omnipotent God,

As our eyes gaze towards the hills and on to the heavens we are awestruck and overwhelmed.  If the rich trust their riches and the inteligent their inteligence than let us, like children, trust You.  Let us not fall into the trap of thinking that our help can come from us, or anything we can do.  Our help, and the only hope we have, comes from You.  So we cry out as the Psalmist did, “Our help comes from You LORD.”  Help us… reveal Yourself to us and to the world.

Amen
